Britain and Germany are at war again, but a different kind of war is brewing in the English countryside. For sixty years Lady Belfry has won the local flower contest hands down. Now she’s being challenged for the title by the little old bell ringer. She’s convinced the local gentry is behind it and fears they are using the war as an excuse to undermine England’s rigid class system. Four scenes, 1 hour.

Locked down
Just a little cigarette break, that’s all. But when Irving fails to return to his desk, his coworkers think he simply took off and stuck them with closing up shop. His fiancée, feeling stood up in a restaurant, confides to another man that she fears more of the same is in store for their marriage. His absence sets off a row between his mother and father, each blaming the other for too much or too little parenting. Meanwhile Irving is stuck in an elevator and he’s gotta go. Seven scenes, 1 hour 15 minutes.

The Squall and the Squalor
A man has been stranded on a desert isle for five years, his only companion being a scarecrow he built out of branches and coconuts. After numerous attempts, he finally manages to escape on a raft and is welcomed home by a civilization grown addicted to reality TV in his absence. Everyone wants to know what it’s really like to be left forlorn and adrift, especially now that his girlfriend is married to his boss. Five scenes, 1 hour 30 minutes.

Henslowe’s Rose
It’s the end of the war and what’s left of Germany lies in ruins, occupied by the now bickering Allies. A mercenary named Jack Henslowe has opened a café in the British sector, a front for a black market operation he has going with the Russians. The US military is eager to shut him down, not least because they suspect a German rocket scientist is planning to use him to escape to the Soviet Union. Seems his wife, a French-born Communist, is calling the shots. For Henslowe, loyalty means nothing. The scientist can go for all he cares, but things get complicated when he learns that the wife is the same woman who threw him over just before the Germans marched into Paris. Three acts, 2 hours.
Spring 2012
No Ship in Sight
A giant passenger liner, reported to be unsinkable, leaves on its maiden voyage for New York. On board are three young men looking to score with lonely young women, and a rich, prim widow escorting her two nieces who happen to be lonely. A shipboard officer senses there’s money to be made by insinuating himself into the affairs of these two groups. All goes well until Death starts stalking one of the young men, practically driving him insane, while one of the young women stalks a stoker who’s in a position to blow up a boiler and send the ship to the bottom. Three acts, 2 hours.
